2022-06-26 The Christian Wardrobe with Ed Sarabia

November 23, 2025 Leah Good

Notes:

What did Bible characters wear? John the Baptist wore a camel hair jacket and leather belt. Elijah wore a similar outfit. The priestly, Levitical outfits are well described in the Old Testament.

Colossians 3:12-15. Garments to wear among friends.

Put on = wear

These garments are not physical. They have spiritual value.

“As the elect of God” - these garments are for the believer

Put on “bowels of mercy,” i.e. a heart of compassion. Do not be calloused toward people in need.

Put on forbearance. We are all different with different personalities. Do we feel frustrated and critical of the differences in others? Do we value the ways our strengths can help others and how their strengths can help us?

Put on forgiveness. Do we cultivate a willingness to let go of wrongs done against us? Do we release the “right” to inflict consequences on another person?

Colossians 4:14. Above all, put on love. (see also John 13:35)

When we put on garments, people do not see our nakedness. They see what we are wearing. They identify us by the type of clothing we wear. Do our spiritual garments identify us as Christians?

It’s hard to love someone we don’t know.
It’s hard to know someone we don’t interact with.
Let’s get to know each other!

What are you wearing today? Are you wearing a heart of kindness? Do others see kindness and patience when they see you? Are you clothed in humility?

Ephesians 6:10-17. Garments to wear when facing enemy forces.

Put on the WHOLE armor of God. Put it all on. Do not wear partial armor. Partial armor leaves the soldier vulnerable.

The Wardrobes of the Christian (Recap)

  • Personal, private. Romans 13:14

  • Public, among friends. Colossians 3:12-15

  • Public, facing an enemy. Ephesians 6:10-17

2022-06-19 The Kinsman Redeemer with Walter Gomez

July 12, 2022 Leah Good

Notes:

Elimilech’s brother, Salmon, had married Rahab. Boaz was the son of Salmon and Raham

Christ’s great compassion, mercy, and love motivated Him to redeem us. This redemption required great resources. It required His blood. He alone had the recources to pay the debt for redemption.

Around the cross, people were not thanking Jessu for His sacrifice. He endured the wrath of God alone.

When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, God intervened. There was no intervention between Jesus and His sacrifice.

From the time of Jesus’s birth, people tried to kill Him. To this day, people reject Jesus.

Jesus knew he would be rejected and suffer death on the cross. He came anyway because of His love for us.

Jesus touched the dead, the lepers, the sick. Others would not touch these people because it would make them unclean. Nothing could contaminate Jesus.

Jesus could turn water to wine, walk on water, heal the sick, and multipy food because creation is subject to the creator.

The Lord has turned our mourning to dancing. He has paid our debt. He has redeemed us.

  • Understanding His calling (past)
  •  Understanding His inheritance (future)
  • Understanding the exceeding greatness of His power (present)

PAUL’S PRAYER (PART 2)
A Prayer for Participation – Ephesians 3:14-21

Paul prays that the believers will be…

  1. That the believers might be strengthened with might so that
  2. Christ will be at home in the believer’s heart so that
  3. The believer is able to comprehend the breadth, length, height, and depth of Christ's love so that
  4. The believer will be filled with the fullness of God

The elements of the second part of Paul’s prayer are useful for diagnosing difficulties in the lives of believers.
